stack-577 Release Notes

Summary

This release advances two roadmap tracks: Enterprise isolation (realms) in core Synapse and SearchV2 usability and stability. Across epics, we’re delivering realm-aware team management (PLFM-9329) and multiple SearchV2 UX fixes plus a “Did-You-Mean?” capability (SWC-7489, SWC-7673, SWC-7695), along with curator grid reliability improvements (SWC-7690) and an accurate “locked data under review” message (SWC-7689).

Why now: These items reduce cross-organization data exposure risks, improve discovery accuracy, and remove friction in high-traffic workflows ahead of broader SearchV2 rollout.

Expected impact: Clearer boundaries for enterprise tenants, more forgiving and resilient search, and smoother curator operations. Stakeholders should see fewer support cases tied to search errors, realm membership inconsistencies, and curator multiselect issues.

Traceability: PORTALS-3849, PLFM-9329, SWC-7489, SWC-7673, SWC-7689, SWC-7690, SWC-7695. View all issues: https://sagebionetworks.jira.com/issues/?jql=fixVersion%20%3D%20stack-577%20AND%20project%20in%20%28PORTALS%2C%20SWC%2C%20PLFM%29%20ORDER%20BY%20project%2C%20issuetype%2C%20key

Affected Users & Systems

  • Synapse end users: benefit from improved search suggestions and fewer error states in Search (SWC-7489, SWC-7695, SWC-7673).

  • Enterprise/Realm administrators and team maintainers: realm-constrained team creation, invitations, and membership (PLFM-9329).

  • Data contributors and access reviewers: clearer messaging when data is locked and under review (SWC-7689).

  • Curators using the grid UI: more predictable multiselect behavior and session resilience (SWC-7690, PORTALS-3849).

New Features

  • “Did-You-Mean?” search assistance (SWC-7489): Offers suggested spellings and lets users choose the intended term, improving result relevance, especially for biomedical terminology.

  • Realm-aware team management (PLFM-9329): Ensures teams and memberships remain within enterprise boundaries; supports realm-consistent email invitations for new users.

Fixes & Improvements

  • SearchV2 stability: Error boundaries and handling for link entities prevent page crashes (SWC-7695); header/navigation now renders correctly in the new search view (SWC-7673).

  • Clearer data access state: Users now see an appropriate message when content is locked and under review, reducing confusion and support requests (SWC-7689).

  • Curator productivity: Multiselect property behavior is consistent and predictable (SWC-7690). Investigation into websocket reconnection/grid reload issues completed for curator sessions (PORTALS-3849).
